Malice

“When the police asked those bullies why they’d abused my student so severely, all they were able to come up with was that they ‘just didn’t like him.’ It was just hate. Pure, simple malice.” – Keigo Higashino, Malice

Malice explores a person’s motivation for committing a crime.

Kunihiko Hidaka is found dead in a locked room by Osamu Nonoguchi, his childhood best friend, and Rie Hidaka, his wife. It’s a classic murder mystery set-up. But, what makes Malice a compelling story is the fresh and original way Higashino has come up with unpredictable plot twists. With the book’s skillful narrative, it’s a throwback to classic murder mysteries such as  Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot series.

Malicethe first novel in Detective Kaga series, does not disappoint.
